Music Ratings

Although I have rated a song in my music collection, and the rating shows up for that song, it does not appear to be possible to list songs with their rating details. is this the case or am I doing something wrong?


When does the HTML5 player get fixed?

When I play in flash (firefox) the bandwidth is not a problem at all and I can stream my 1080p files flawlessly (16-30 MBit/s). HTML5 on Chrome uses way less CPU power (great), but does not even get a 12 MBit/s file transfered correctly. There are hickups every now and then.
I am NOT talking about transcoding and I am not hardware limited. Those tests were done on the same hardware.

bottom line: FIREFOX is way to go, Chrome is still broken.

Audio files won't play in Web Player until viewing file info

I recently bought a Plex Pass and added a Premium Music library on my Mac Plex server. I've noticed that many songs will not play in Web Player until I click on the track options and choose Info. Prior to that it tries to play and just goes to the next track. This doesn't seem consistent across albums. All of the tracks that I have noticed affected are in Apple Lossless format, but not all Apple Lossless files exhibit this behavior. I've tried Updating Library with mixed results. That will seem to work for the album I'm currently trying to listen to, but later attempts with other albums exhibit the same problem.

Any thoughts or ideas for a more permanent and less manual fix?

"Server is unavailable" on web app

My PMS is running on FreeNAS 9.10 and its up on any device that doesn't use the web app. So I'm trying to figure out why the web app is suddenly unavailable.

Where has the Dashboard Order/Enable/Disable Setting Gone????

Where is it in 2.6.1?? Why would this be removed??

Won't load after pause

My Plex server is Version 1.0.0.2261. I am running Windows 10 on a Core i5 computer with 8 GB of RAM. This issue started recently where I would be watching a video in the web app and I would pause it to get up for a second and I would come back and press play, it would play approximately 2 seconds of video and then show that it is loading. I would not stop loading and I would have to close out of the player and press play to continue and it would load in half a second and continue where it left off. This is very annoying as I like to have the ability to pause what I'm watching. Thanks!

Plex Web App is preventing Mac OSX Screen Saver & Display Sleep from working

Hi there,

I am running the following on an iMac with 24GB RAM, OSX El Capitan 10.11.6

  • Plex Media Server 1.0.2.2413
  • Plex Web App 2.7.6
  • Remote Access is not enabled.

I connect to Plex mainly using Apple TV4 (love the Plex App !), plus occasionally Plex on iOS on iPad Air or iPhone 6Plus. Have a Roku as well but rarely use it since Plex was released for AppleTV. I upgrade my Plex software quite frequently (am PlexPass member).

Sometime in past couple of weeks, I noticed that the Screen Saver and later Display Sleep no longer was kicking in on my iMac - which is normally running 24hr as a media server. I normally have Plex Web App permanently open in Google Chrome (Version 52.0.2743.82 (64-bit)) in a couple of window tabs - one for main page, one for status, one for settings. I have Sonarr running in Safari. This was never a problem until a few weeks ago.

By trial and error I have narrowed it down to having any Plex Web App window open (in either Chrome or Safari) is preventing the iMac Screen Saver or Display Sleep for kicking in. The Energy Saver setting on the iMac do not put the Computer to sleep, only the Display after 10 minutes. Wake on LAN is enabled.

I am unsure if this is a bug that has appeared in a recent release or whether there is a configuration issue here.

Would welcome any help in resolving this as obviously I don't wish to have my display running all the time. Ideally I would like to get a suitable Mac Mini to run as a separate media server, but funds don't currently permit.

Search single library feature is missing or broken

My MAJOR issue with the new search is that individual library searching is completely broken (missing).

Old Way:
Go to your movie library and type "star trek" in the search and it shows all the Star Trek movies on your system (and only your system) and still allows you to sort or filter at will.

New Way:
Go to your movie library and type "star trek" in the search and it shows three (sorted by add date?). Click all results and you get a plethora of Star Trek title in a seemingly random order and from ALL your libraries and from ALL your friends libraries from which you have access. What's worse is you cannot change the order, sort them in any way, or filter them in any way.

Not a good upgrade.

This is not really helpful as searching is supposed to allow you to narrow in to what you want to view.

How good is the Video/audio quality on the Plex web compared to android app or ubuntu plexht?

Im using a Orange Pi Plus (Rasberry Pi clone).

Im trying to get plex on it (not the plex media server ). Though i have successfully manged to get the media server going.

Ive tried installing plexhometheater on ubunto, but discovered plex did not support Arm cortex A7 architecture. Fine.
Now i have installed android 4.4 on it, though the downloaded plex app refuses me to active it (Even though ive already bought a copy previously.)

So the next option is running plex on a browser. Thats why i am asking the question about quality:-)

This is something new...

If I sort by Artists I get , The Library has no content yet. Click here to add content to library.

If I sort by Album...

I get all the albums

If I sort by Tracks....

I get all the tracks

I went so far as deleting the library, cleaning up then readding it. Same result.

Frustrated.

Web-Plex stops playing after 3 episodes?

So, one of the main things I use Plex for is to play 9-11 hours of video for my dog (Locke) while I'm at work.

I had to stop relying on the XBox app because if the internet dropped for even a few seconds (common occurrence), it would just halt playback and stop. On the days this happened, I would come home to a very hyper/anxious dog.

So today I went to try using the web app instead (on my somewhat crappy 6 year old Win7 laptop with a small screen, instead of on my 40 inch LED flatscreen)...

And when I get home, it's showing that it stopped the "Play All Episodes" after the third episode in the series. This is of course, problematic. 3 episodes is not 9-11 hours of video. Dog was super hyper when I got home.

How do I fix/change this behavior, so that when I queue up videos, it plays them continuously until it hits the end of the queue?

"There was a problem connecting to this player" when casting on Plex Web 2.7.3 & 2.7.4

I have Plex Media Server 1.0.0.2261 on OS X and it runs OpenPHT v1.6.2.123 to play content. I use Plex Web App on another computer to control OpenPHT through the casting function. Ever since the update to Plex Web 2.7.3, I am unable to remotely control OpenPHT. When I click the cast icon in Plex Web and click OpenPHT player from the list, the page immediately displays two errors:

"There was a problem connecting to this player."
"Unable to find player with identifier ." (there is a real GUID there)

After this, OpenPHT disappears from the cast icon in Plex Web. If I restart OpenPHT and then refresh Plex Web it will reappear in the list. This is reproducible with both Google Chrome and Safari, on OS X. Chrome does not have the Google Cast extension installed. It is reproducible when using private browsing modes on both browsers.

When I watch the console in Chrome while attempting to cast, it receives a 500 Internal Server Error:

And more of the same for the second request that generates a 500 error. I have attached the log files for examination.

These problems did not exist on Plex Web 2.7.0, and I have confirmed that connecting to the server directly (on port 32400) in Chrome works just fine. Since the server is running Plex Web 2.7.0 and it can't be updated out of band, it has let me test with both versions.

This problem originally popped up with 2.7.3 and I did most of this research on 2.7.3, but did not have time to write this up until 2.7.4 was released. I have confirmed the problem still happens in 2.7.4.

Any ideas on what has caused this problem? I will have to stay on v1.0.0.2261 until it is fixed so I can have the casting function work.

[Feature Request] Display Music Ratings & Audio Format

I started using Plex as my main music player recently and overall I really like the interface but it could use a few improvements.

There is a rating system but the rating only shows for the currently playing song. By displaying all ratings it becomes easier to find a particular song you may have starred or showing the best songs on an album etc.

Audio quality also isn't displayed. In the movie section, information on the video file such as 1080p, 5.1 etc is displayed. For users that collect music in different formats, it would be useful to see what kind of quality a particular album is in.

The new Plex Premium Music features are awesome.. really enjoying it so far!!

 

But I'm attempting to filter my music to only show tracks that I haven't set a rating for yet, and it's not working.  There is a "Rating" filter for tracks, and there's a "0 stars" option.  Considering there's no way to actually rate a track 0 stars, it would make sense that "0 stars" corresponds to "unrated".  However, if I check/select "0 stars", it says "There is no content matching your active filter.", even though I have thousands of tracks that I haven't rated yet.

Is this a bug?

 

Also, there's no way to "unrate" a track (or give it a rating of 0 stars) once you've given it a rating.   That seems like a bug (or at least an oversight) as well..?

Playlists keep emptying

I originally thought this was just a case of me watching 1 entry and forgetting to exit fully, but it has now happened again when I wasn't watching anything on the playlist.

Is there anything that runs that removes entries from a playlist after a certain period of time? Or anything else that could be wiping all the entries from a playlist? So far I've not seen a pattern to when it happens.

any idea what this means? multiple views registered for single element

Since the last update, the continue watching area displays nothing,
It seems fine with apps on android and ios and smart tv,
Also works fine if the plex app is opened to localhost.

Play Unwatched button broken again

Hey guys, quick update/question on the 'play unwatched' button.

So I update my plex regularly and it seems like every other update causes the 'play unwatched button' to break.

So whats broken? Within windows, while using chrome, i'll find my show and be in the 'show main page' where the seasons are listed. Say i'm on season 5 of my show, i press 'play unwatched' on the top left and it will play Season 1 Episode 1 of that show. During some of the working versions of server, it would take me directly to the next 'unwatched episode' or even a partially watched episode.

I've done some testing.
While using my android plex app on the Note 5, the play unwatched function works as it should.

If theres possibly some disabled function, let me know. Otherwise, i do hope it gets fixed.

Viewing photos full screen

I've been a happy and plex loving advocate for quite a while now, but only recently added all my photos to my PMS.

I can browse them just fine using Plex Web, but it seems impossible to view the photos full screen, they always have huuuuuuuge borders with the arrows around them, almost as big as the photo itself.

Is this normal behavior?
